My New Certification in Conflict Management and Relationship Awareness: SDI

One of my dreams for a long time has been to serve businesses, governments, nonprofits and religious organizations through conflict prevention, management and resolution methods. This is not an entirely new venture. I have worked with several organizations both formally and informally in the past, and I have taught in the certificate program for the prestigious Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. And, of course, I am an attorney. I am a certified court mediator in Tennessee as well.

So, it with a lot of excitement that I have added another tool to my toolbox to better prepare me to serve organizations. I am now an Accounts Relationship Manager and Facilitator for the SDI Inventory and its publishing and training arm, Personal Strengths of San Diego. I plan to give a significant portion of my time to this endeavor as I also serve other new training clients such as Amgen Pharmaceutical, a large accounting firm in Nashville, and some of the nation’s best high style luxury hotels.

The SDI is similar to other well known inventories such as Myers Briggs or DISC, but it differs in a significant way. Those inventories measure personality, intention and behavior in a specific circumstance. The SDI goes deeper. It measures our motivations that drive our intentions and behavior, allowing us to probe into the real sources of many conflicts and misunderstandings. The SDI is also perfect for relationship improvement, whether at work or at home.
