Tony Blair Foundation Launches Film and Faith Initiative for Teens

Variety Magazine today reports: :Former Brit Prime Minister Tony Blair has launched the 2011 edition of his global film competish, Faith Shorts, calling for entries from young people on how faith inspires them.

The competition, which is open to young people between 14 and 18 years old until July 1 and is offered through the Tony Blair Foundation, boasts a high-profile panel of judges, including Blair, Hugh Jackman, Jet Li, Anil Kapoor and former Fox topper Sherry Lansing.

Producers Nik Powell and David Puttnam, and Brit thesp Dawn French also join the panel.

Winning films will be premiered at BAFTA later in the year and will be available to upload on YouTube.

Winners will also get the opportunity to make and edit a film with a professional crew, in addition to receiving a personal tour of the National Film and Television School from Powell, the school’s director.

The Tony Blair Foundation, which was launched in 2008, is also working with other orgs that are supporting filmmakers in addressing topics of faith, such as the Insight Film Festival, an international fest focused on faith.”
